Bear Grylls is pretty much The Man, amirite? He is (seemingly) fearless, and willing to do just about anything—and on camera, to boot。 I would be running the other way from some of these things, and if you’d like that on camera too, that is just fine with me, haha! The read is more a collection of stories than a continuous narrative, and I expected more of the latter。 I’ve not read his first autobiography, which this one kind of continues, so can’t speak to if it simply continues that writing sty Bear Grylls is pretty much The Man, amirite? Bear Grylls dives into what he has learned through work, family life, the Scouts, faith, running his own business, working with celebrities, being famous, and so much more in his autobiography。 I like his mentality and his outlook on life。 His personal motto is Never Give Up。 His outlook is “Improvise, adapt, overcome…and above all, never give up。”He really cares about people, making the planet a better place, the environment, helping others, his family, and being a good person。 Bear doesn’t thr Bear Grylls dives into what he has learned through work, family life, the Scouts, faith, running his own business, working with celebrities, being famous, and so much more in his autobiography。 I like his mentality and his outlook on life。 His personal motto is Never Give Up。 His outlook is “Improvise, adapt, overcome…and above all, never give up。”He really cares about people, making the planet a better place, the environment, helping others, his family, and being a good person。 Bear doesn’t thrive on being famous and he really loves his wife and boys。 It comes through clearly in his book。 The chapters aren’t very long and he mentions a lot of stories from different shows or events in his career。 Some I knew about, but a lot was new to me。 He’s a very interesting person and I love that he lives on an island with his family。 The book flows good even though it’s a lot of different topics with his ideas/lessons thrown in。 A few lines I really loved:So, I figure why not live life boldly now…。because it’s all a bonus。 When you screw up, admit it, apologize, do what you can to make amends。 Then let it go。 Guilt can be a heavy anchor。After all, the great successes in life are rarely the A plus students at school, right? 。。。more

This was a fun behind the scenes look at Bear Grylls life and television persona。 I have to admit that I went into this never having watched any of his shows! Despite their popularity I had just never seen any。 Halfway through reading I watched a few episodes of running wild, which I really enjoyed。 It was fun to watch and then hear some behind the scenes information about those episodes。 I also want to check out some of his other shows。 For fans of Bear Grylls or any of his shows they will enjo This was a fun behind the scenes look at Bear Grylls life and television persona。 I have to admit that I went into this never having watched any of his shows! It’s a great book, but too many repetitions in my opinion。 It could easily been cut down by a third… although it was fun to follow BG’s adventures and development。

Was alright。 Some stories I heard before。 Not a "traditional" bio, probably because he did one so recently。 I'm a big fan of his work generally, I'm a fan of his involvement with various Christian organisations, I'm a fan because of Scouting。。。 But even I was a bit meh about it。One for the charity shop。 Was alright。 Some stories I heard before。 Not a "traditional" bio, probably because he did one so recently。 I'm a big fan of his work generally, I'm a fan of his involvement with various Christian organisations, I'm a fan because of Scouting。。。 But even I was a bit meh about it。One for the charity shop。 。。。more

This book covers three aspects of Bear's life: Bear the adventurer, Bear the businessman and Bear the family man。 The first half was snappy and entertaining but the second became slow and repetitive。 You certainly couldn't miss Bear's 'Never Give Up' mantra as it's mentioned every other page! Never Give Up: My Life in the Wild by Bear Grylls is a wonderful memoir of some of the events and experiences in the fascinating life of adventurist, Bear Grylls。 I just loved this memoir of Mr。 Grylls。 Part antidotes, part memoir, and part musings…this is a great collection of memories, inspirations, adventures, experiences, and reflections of the famous traveler, adventurer, and survivalist。 It was entertaining, unique, enjoyable, and the pages flew by。 I loved watching his show, and this just Never Give Up: My Life in the Wild by Bear Grylls is a wonderful memoir of some of the events and experiences in the fascinating life of adventurist, Bear Grylls。 I just loved this memoir of Mr。 Grylls。 Part antidotes, part memoir, and part musings…this is a great collection of memories, inspirations, adventures, experiences, and reflections of the famous traveler, adventurer, and survivalist。 It was entertaining, unique, enjoyable, and the pages flew by。 I loved watching his show, and this just brought back so many memories of watching this awesome man with my own family growing up。 Highly recommend for anyone that loves his show or anyone that enjoys world travels。 5/5 stars Thank you National Geographic for this wonderful arc and in return I am submitting my unbiased and voluntary review and opinion。I am posting this review to my GR and Bookbub accounts immediately and will post it to my Amazon, Instagram, and B&N accounts upon publication on 3/1/22。 。。。more

I have been a fan of Bear Grylls since I was a kid, and now in my mid twenties I still find myself keeping up with what he does。 I love his ethos and after his first book, I was excited to see this on the shelves。 It was fantastic, different from Mud, Sweat and Tears but no less great。 Bear has a great way of storytelling, with small exciting chapters I was just engaged the whole way through。 A very honest recapture of his beginnings on tv, right up to the present I found myself inspired and not I have been a fan of Bear Grylls since I was a kid, and now in my mid twenties I still find myself keeping up with what he does。 I love his ethos and after his first book, I was excited to see this on the shelves。 It was fantastic, different from Mud, Sweat and Tears but no less great。 Bear has a great way of storytelling, with small exciting chapters I was just engaged the whole way through。 A very honest recapture of his beginnings on tv, right up to the present I found myself inspired and not wanting to put it down。 He is refreshing and a good person, something that is very rare in these times。 My first 5 star read of 2022。 Such a great read。 。。。more

Never Give Up is an autobiographical book by Bear Grylls that focuses on lessons he has learned throughout his various adventures。 With short chapters, he chronicles many of his journeys in Man vs。 Wild and Running Wild and shares what many of his experiences have taught him。 He also shares examples of what continues to motivate him during the toughest times。 Having watched Man vs。 Wild and You vs。 Wild, I was immediately interested in reading Never Give Up when it became available for review。 B Never Give Up is an autobiographical book by Bear Grylls that focuses on lessons he has learned throughout his various adventures。 With short chapters, he chronicles many of his journeys in Man vs。 Wild and Running Wild and shares what many of his experiences have taught him。 He also shares examples of what continues to motivate him during the toughest times。 Having watched Man vs。 Wild and You vs。 Wild, I was immediately interested in reading Never Give Up when it became available for review。 Bear Grylls covers a lot of different topics in this book, leaving it to be a good option to read continuously or to pick up and put down from time to time。 He certainly didn't shy away from any of the more difficult moments in this book and it is quite honest like his shows。 And I particularly appreciated reading the chapters on his motivations and what keeps him going。 Never Give Up is a great book for readers with an interest in the author or nature/travel/adventure nonfiction in general。Thanks to Netgalley and National Geographic for this ARC; this is my honest and voluntary review。 。。。more

While it isn’t a biography in the same way that Mud Sweat and Tears was, it’s still a great accompanying piece to someone who is a fan of Bear and his TV shows。 Interesting and honest about the hard work that goes into production of the shows and the logistics of them。 I think going into this book with the right attitude and intrigue will produce a happy reader。

Really wanted to enjoy this book。 As a ex Marine myself, I have a lot of time for the author, but this book just fell into a personal pat on the back for Grylls from Grylls with a series of name drops about his TV shows。 Ended up speed reading and even missed a whole chapter out when it was more of the same。

When Bear Grylls first started out I was not a fan - I thought his work was fake and all staged。 Since then I have become a fan of all of his recent shows and love everything he does。 I am so glad I picked up this book because I got a peek inside to why he was portrayed in such a way in his past roles/shows which was quite in the unfavorable way。 This book also goes through all the amazing people he has interacted with in his most recent shows - and it was amazing to read, especially about Obama When Bear Grylls first started out I was not a fan - I thought his work was fake and all staged。 Since then I have become a fan of all of his recent shows and love everything he does。 I am so glad I picked up this book because I got a peek inside to why he was portrayed in such a way in his past roles/shows which was quite in the unfavorable way。 This book also goes through all the amazing people he has interacted with in his most recent shows - and it was amazing to read, especially about Obama!! Bear Grylls is the iconic adventurer and survivalist star of Man vs Wild and the more recent Running Wild。 Never Give Up is his latest book。 It’s told in a folksy down to earth manner, often in a stream of consciousness manner rather than in a structured manner。 You get his tall tales about biting the heads off snakes and drinking his own urine to survive。 You get his philosophical musings and his can-do attitude and more of a sense of who he is as a person than you get in the television series。 Bear Grylls is the iconic adventurer and survivalist star of Man vs Wild and the more recent Running Wild。 Never Give Up is his latest book。 It’s told in a folksy down to earth manner, often in a stream of consciousness manner rather than in a structured manner。 You get his tall tales about biting the heads off snakes and drinking his own urine to survive。 You get his philosophical musings and his can-do attitude and more of a sense of who he is as a person than you get in the television series。 And you could basically open up any page at random and enjoy his stories and asides。 。。。more

Remarkable how in an age of cynicism and disbelief a character like Bear Grylls almost unassumingly becomes one of the probably most-watched (billons of viewers) and most prolific (connections to global world leaders and A-list celebrities) TV personality, yet remains an understated (or real) and vulnerable (yet resilient) individual。It’s hard to believe it’s true, but when reading his biographies, you want (and I do) to believe him。 Such a positive and encouraging voice in times where we need i Remarkable how in an age of cynicism and disbelief a character like Bear Grylls almost unassumingly becomes one of the probably most-watched (billons of viewers) and most prolific (connections to global world leaders and A-list celebrities) TV personality, yet remains an understated (or real) and vulnerable (yet resilient) individual。It’s hard to believe it’s true, but when reading his biographies, you want (and I do) to believe him。 Such a positive and encouraging voice in times where we need it most! I listened to the audio, because that's what I do!I had been hoping for more insights into Bear's life and family, which always encourages and informs my life。 And I was not disappointed。Many of us love Bear for different, and or, many reasons。An awful lot of people cannot believe in the innocence and positivity, he always shows, and since I discovered him, I have followed everything I can find, because of how that wonderful disposition moves me。In this over-sophisticated era, there are many who I listened to the audio, because that's what I do!I had been hoping for more insights into Bear's life and family, which always encourages and informs my life。 And I was not disappointed。Many of us love Bear for different, and or, many reasons。An awful lot of people cannot believe in the innocence and positivity, he always shows, and since I discovered him, I have followed everything I can find, because of how that wonderful disposition moves me。In this over-sophisticated era, there are many who choose to do the modern bad-mouthing thing。 But that is because they have not got to know him through his filming and writing, as others of us have。And it is that inner Bear, that is so winsome, and so exciting, because, I don't know anyone like him。I picked 'him' up a few years ago, and can't put him down!! 。。。more
